Memorial of the Klausenrennen

On the same weekend as the Gstaad Classic was held the Memorial of the “Klausenrennen”, the most famous and difficult 21,5 Km Hillclimb Race in period (1928 – 1934).

This is only the 5th Memorial since started again in 1993. The previous one being in 2006. Over 250 Prewar cars, Motorcycles and Three-Wheelers participated in this Event.

The demonstration run of the 1934 Mercedes W25 Silver Arrow, driven by German DTM Ace Roland Ash and with whom Rudolf Caracciola won the 1934 Klausenrennen edition was the Highlight of the Weekend.

The Race starts at an altitude of 520m in Linthal (Glarus) on paving stones and ends after a very bumpy, narrow and dangerous road at the top of the Klausenpass in the Canton of Uri at 1952m.

Christian Traber participated with his light Blue Talbot-Lago and was able to claim victory in the competition Class after the second running on Sunday with only 4 second advance only to the second car, a 1936 ERA compressor race car of German Rainer Ott. Christian was still 15 seconds behind the ERA after the first Hillclimb stint on Saturday and managed to gain 19 seconds on the ERA on Sunday.
