Hugo de Sadeleer gets his first podium at Pau

After experimenting his first emotions in Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS on the Imola circuit last month, Hugo de Sadeleer competed last week-end in the second round of the Championship on the city circuit of Pau. This race was a real test for the young Swiss driver as well as an opportunity to reveal the extent of his competences on a twisty road, and it’s already done!

After some free practice sessions that enable Hugo de Sadeleer to get used to the track, he managed to set the sixth-fastest time. Unfortunately, the latter was compromised by a grid penalty carried over from Imola. However, during the qualifying session for the second race, he confirmed his good shape and took once again the sixth place on the starting grid.

A podium which will call further ones ?

Finishing just outside the points in the first race, Hugo de Sadeleer showed his talents during the second race. Facing the rain and the slippery track, he overtook numerous rivals to score his first top-3, synonym of podium, the best result of his single-seaters’ career.

Simon Abadie, Tech 1 Team Manager, Hugo de Sadeleer’s team, said: « I’m very happy with Hugo’s first podium finish in only his second meeting in the category. The way he improved during the weekend revealed his potential, all the more so as it was in Pau where talent is the deciding factor. » His next race will take place in Austria, on the Red Bull Ring on 25th of May.
