4 Hours of Portimão – A new podium for Hugo
The final round of the European Le Mans Series was held this Sunday in Portugal. On the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimão, Hugo and the Team United Autosports managed to win a second place, unfortunately insufficient to grab the title they lusted so much for.
A superb take-off of Hugo de Sadeleer
Starting from the fifth place on the grid for a relay of more than two hours, Hugo made a great start to find himself leading in the first corner. He took the best corner on the G-Drive Racing of his direct opponent for the title of champion.
The No. 32 Ligier United Autosports was then overwhelmed by two cars, before Felipe Albuquerque tears the second place from the Dallara SMP Racing No. 27 a few minutes before the end.
A second place on the overall ranking
Hugo and his team finish the season on a nice second place in Portimão, the same position they hold in the overall ranking of the Championship. A great feat for their first season in the European Le Mans Series, and which should encourage them to aim for the peaks next year.
At the end of this final event, Hugo was awarded with the “Rookie of the Year” trophy for the best beginner of the year. A recognition for the beautiful season made by the young Swiss driver.
The “Rookie of the Year” prize was awarded during the European Le Mans Series awards ceremony, organized by Gérard Neveu, World Endurance Championship General Manager and Pierre Fillon President of the ACO. The trophy was handed to him by Pierre Fillon.
