Radical Challenge: Another victory for Jerome at Brands Hatch
The Brands Hatch circuit hosted this weekend the penultimate round of the 2019 Radical Challenge season. Still struggling for the title, Jerome had two disappointing races before winning the third one. The championship will therefore be played at Donington Park National on September 28 and 29.
A difficult start
The first race was very intense for Jerome de Sadeleer and Dominik Jackson, his rival for the title. After a collision with the latter, and several interventions of the safety car, Jerome finished the race in sixth position despite a damaged car.
In the second race, Jerome received a five penalty spots on the starting grid. Although he managed to climb back up to fifth place, he couldn’t stop Jackson from winning the race.
A victory to close the weekend
Free of any constraints related to his first race, Jerome could finally take part in the battle for victory in the third act. Determined to win this last race, he was going after Jackson, who started from the pole position.
Thanks to a good strategy, Jerome took the lead of the race and then only had to manage his pursuers, despite another intervention from the safety car.
At the end of this hectic weekend, Jerome said : “The two first races were pretty tough, I had unfortunate contact with Dominik in the first race, I think he’s still unhappy with me. Otherwise the final race was pretty good, I kept it clean and the safety car before the pit stops benefited me, the second one didn’t but I was ahead and managed to pull a gap. A sixth win of the year is pretty good and I’m not far behind. If one of us gets a DNF either way, it’s going to be quite close to deciding a champion, so we just have to keep it clean, keep it consistent.”
