Radical Spa Festival – an impressive second race from Jerome
During the 22nd Radical Spa Festival last week-end, Jerome elbowed his way against his long-lasting rival Dominik Jackson.
Leading early into race one, Jerome was long ahead Jackson. An unfortunate damage to a right-rear upright forced him to make a pit-stop. Despite his best efforts, Jerome couldn’t catch-up the loss of time and ended behind Jackson.
Race 2 was where Jerome truly shone. Following a post-race one penalty, the Swiss driver had to climb his way up from 11th place to runner-up. After passing Constable and Brian Caudwell, Jerome kept a comfortable distance with third place until the end of the race.
He commented: “It was pretty good! I started off 11th, and I think after three turns I was fifth and then after another lap I got into second. I was slowly catching up to Dom but I was too far down the grid to make a full recovery within 20 minutes. I’m really hoping for a win, I have zero success seconds so I’m going to push hard and try and make that happen.”
In spite of an early lead in third race, Jerome dropped to 13th following an intervention from the safety car. As he recovered to 7th place, he unfortunately contacted with MacRae, forcing his retirement.
Next round of Radical Challenge will take place at Oulton Park, Cheshire, on 20 July.
