Hugo at the start the Blancpain GT World Challenge at Nürburgring

This weekend, the penultimate round of the Blancpain GT World Challenge Europe will take place at the Nürburgring circuit, in the heart of Germany’s Eifel Hills. A trial of the most importance as it’s the very last occasion for Hugo and his rivals to score points before next week’s finals in Hungary…

Nürburgring : a crucial race

28 racers will be at the start of the shortened circuit of Gesamtstrecke : an essential destination of the Blancpain GT World Challenge since its introduction in the competition in 2012. 17 turns, a length of 5.137 km… this automotive facility, which opened in 1927, hosts among others the German Grand Prix, a trial of the WTCC and some European Formula 3 races.

The stakes of this 8th round are high for Hugo ! Being second with his partner, Aaro Vainion, in the Silver Cup, he’s only 15 points behind the current leaders of the competition : Nico Bastian and Thomas Neubauer (n°89 AKKA ASP Mercedes-AMG). Driving the Aston Martin Vantage V8 GT3 n°62, the duo will have to demonstrate perseverance and ingenuity to take the lead in the Silver Cup.

Earlier in the season, Hugo already proved to be a serious contender for the final win in the Silver Cup. In Zandvoort, the Swiss racer made his best performance yet by finishing 6th overall and by triumphing in his category. The goal ? Repeat this feat for Nürburgring…

After the qualifications trials Saturday morning, the first race will take place in the afternoon at 2 : 30 p.m. while the second one will occur tomorrow at the same time. The full event will be broadcast live from on www.blancpain-gt-series.com.
