First time at the Dakar Rally for Jerome !
Newly formed Saudi rally raid outfit, Team Galag have confirmed they will be running a FIA T4 SSV at the 2022 Dakar Rally. Following a successful first outing for the new buggy at the Rallye du Maroc, the team is confident it has developed a competitive package for the gruelling Saudi race.
A buggy ready to face the desert…
Team Galag’s Can-Am TG-D1 is built and developed by MMP Competition out of Toulouse, France. MMP has over 20 years of experience building rally cars and will also be providing valuable team support throughout the rally.
A first experience in the Dakar for Jerome !
Jerome de Sadeleer will be tasked with driving the buggy in what is his first Dakar. The successful road racer will be joined by Dakar veteran Mika Metge who is now focusing on co-driving after a successful motorcycle career. De Sadeleer and Metge finished 3rd at the Baja Aragon this summer and also successfully completed the Rallye du Maroc.
Thankfully the team will be supported by a legendary winner
Rally-Raid legend and 5x Dakar winner Cyril Neveu will be joining as Team Principal. Neveu won the motorcycle division of the Dakar Rally five times in 1979, 1980, 1982, 1986, and 1987. From 1991, Neveu was the organizer for over 20 years of both the Rallye du Maroc and the Rallye de Tunisie. Team Galag will benefit from Neveu’s deep experience in rally raid both as a competitor but also as a rally organizer.
An excitement at its peak !
“I am so excited to be doing my Dakar debut with Team Galag. As you have seen with Fernando Alonso, I think every racer no matter the level, dreams of one day participating in this legendary race. While I am confident that we have done the right preparation to be competitive, I do not underestimate the task ahead. Dakar is without doubt the hardest motorsports event in the world. It will be great to partner again with Mika, as we were fast at the Rallye du Maroc and get along very well. I also look forward to working with a legend like Cyril Neveu as he knows the desert and rally raid like no one else.” Jerome de Sadeleer
The team has set itself the ambitious goal to finish in the top-10 on the FIA T4 class at this year’s Dakar Rally.
